SMASH (Sunday School)

Dear Parent/Guardian

Welcome to a new year in St. Paul’s Sunday School.  We are looking forward to welcoming all the children back into classes and meeting any new children who are joining us.  Some general information and dates for the year are detailed below:

Times

Sunday School begins on Sunday 11th September.  Each Sunday will begin at 11.25am and end at 12pm or 12.10pm on Communion Sundays ie first Sunday in the month.

Consent Forms

It is absolutely essential that every child in Sunday School has a Consent Form completed and signed by their parent/guardian.  These are available from myself, Judith Mitchell or Steven Boucher.  Please assist us by ensuring that you complete this form within the first few weeks of Sunday School and give to myself, Judith or Steven.

Classes

Classes are structured the same as last year.  We are delighted to welcome a new teacher, Mrs Rachel Boal, who will be working with Natalie in the Kindergarten.

Church Family Kenya Project

The children and teachers will be involved in the ongoing mission partnership project with Kajiado Diocese in Kenya.  In January we will have a presentation and talk with particular reference to the girls’ school which some of our parishioners helped build and children’s ministry in Kajiado Diocese.  Among other things, we hope to complete an art project to be carried to Kenya by Steven and myself when we visit in June 12.

Teachers

We need an additional teacher for our Junior Room.  If you are interested in helping please let me know.  We have a number of people who will stand in for teachers who are ill or cannot come on a particular Sunday, if you are interested in adding your name to this list let me know.

Harvest

The Children’s Harvest Service is at 3pm on 9th October.  Traditionally all children bring a gift to be given out at Christmas to older people in the Parish.  This year the Rector is having a Christmas Church Family Project and the children will be asked to bring a small food item for the project. Each child will receive a note nearer the time explaining the project and what they could bring.  Previously children also brought a gift to the Christmas Service, this will not be necessary this year.

Christmas Party Dates

The kindergarten party will be on Friday 9th December between 5-6pm and the juniors

party will be on the same date between 6.30-8pm, both in the Church Hall.  The

senior and confirmation children will visit the Belfast Giants again on Saturday 17th

December and will be meeting at the Church Hall at 5.45pm ready to leave at 6pm.

More details on all of this later.

Christmas Service

The Sunday School will be taking part in the Church Family Christmas Celebration Service on Sunday 18th December.

Sunday School Holidays

There will be no Sunday School on the following dates:  6th November, 25th December, 1st January, 8th April, 15th April.  The last day of the Sunday School year will be 20th May 2012 when the children will take part in the service in church.

Safety

We would ask all parents who are leaving children at the Church Hall not to leave them alone before 11.20am at which time a teacher or other church representative will be present.

If you have any questions or need any information please speak to myself or any of the teachers.  My home tel. no. is 92663520 and mobile 07841802756 (most likely to get me after 5pm Monday-Friday and anytime at weekends).

Wishing you and your family God’s richest blessings.
